Ahoy there! My name is Evan. I'm a lifelong academic with dual interests in speech pathology and music education. Outside of the scholarly world, I spend my free time dabbling in hobbyist art, bouldering, or hiking with my dog. I was born in California, grew up in New York, and am currently living on the big island of Hawai'i.

Evan P. Montemayor, M.A./M.S.Ed. is a Filipino-American speech pathologist and music educator from Sacramento, CA. He is currently a clinical fellow practicing on the east side of Hawai'i island. He has worn many professional hats, from adjunct instructor of music at Five Towns College in Dix Hills, NY to character performer at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.

Evan holds an M.S.Ed. in music education and an M.A. in speech-language pathology from Hofstra University. He is earning an M.M. in choral conducting from California State University, Los Angeles. He holds provisional state licensure as a speech-language pathologist in both California and Hawai'i.

Evan's research and teaching interests include vocal and hearing health for music educators, gender-diverse voice and communication therapy, and close reading of poetry in the choral medium. He has presented research for professional conferences at the local, state, regional, and national levels as an individual, panelist, and invited discussant.

Evan is co-chair of the New York American Choral Directors' Association (NY-ACDA) Repertoire & Resources Committee and past treasurer of the Hofstra University graduate chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA). He is an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA).Â
