Ahoy there! My name is Evan Montemayor (pronounced /mon.t̪e.mɑˈjɔːɹ/). I'm a lifelong academic with a keen interest in music and language.
Outside of my professional life, I moonlight as an amateur aquarist, boulderer, and avid consumer of poetry. I have a deep-seated hatred of air travel, surpassed only by a deeper-seated love of new places. A fresh bowl of mac n' cheese hates to see me coming.
I was born in California, grew up in New York, and am currently living and working in rural Hawai'i.

Evan P. Montemayor, M.A./M.S.Ed. is a Filipino-American speech pathologist and music educator from Sacramento, CA. He is currently a speech pathology clinical fellow practicing on the east side of Hawai'i island. He has worn a variety of professional hats, from adjunct instructor of music at Five Towns College in Dix Hills, NY to character performer at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.

Evan holds an M.S.Ed. in music education and an M.A. in speech-language pathology from Hofstra University. He holds provisional state licensure as a speech-language pathologist in both California and Hawai'i. His primary instrument is piano.

Evan's research and teaching interests include neurodiversity-affirming music teacher education, collaborative piano skills for choral directors, and gender-diverse voice/communication therapy. He has presented research for professional conferences at the local, state, regional, and national levels as an individual, panelist, and invited discussant.

Evan is co-chair of the New York American Choral Directors' Association (NY-ACDA) Repertoire & Resources Committee and past treasurer of the Hofstra University graduate chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA). He is an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA).
